About Me
Even from a young age, I was enamored with the Spanish language. As a child, my dream was to have my own secret language that no one would understand. Starting third grade, I entered a charter school that emphasized foreign language acquisition, and I was blessed to learn Spanish from an amazing Argentian woman from grade 3-8. By the time I entered high school, I already knew I wanted Spanish to be a part of my life.
In 2007, I had the opportunity to travel to Bolivia for a week, serving in La Paz and Copacabana. In 2009 and 2012, I traveled to Honduras for a week, serving in Choluteca. And, in 2010, I was given the opportunity to study abroad in Sucre, Bolivia, for a summer.
I graduated from University of Northern Colorado with a Spanish Secondary Education major, as well as a bilingual/bi-cultural endorsement and an English as a Second Language Endorsement. I immediately started teaching, and taught Spanish at a Charter School for 5 years, giving classes such as Introduction to Spanish all the way to Adavanced Placement Spanish, where my students earned college credit. I also had the chance as a teacher to visit Spain as well as take students to Peru for a Service Learning trip.
After teaching Spanish, I decided to return to Honduras as a missionary, as a volunteer teacher for the English Language. I lived and served for three years before returning to the United States where I currently help English Language Learners.
